A Turkish court has issued an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in connection with the interception of the humanitarian flotilla "Sumud". This is reported by UNN citing Halk TV.
Details
Arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other individuals involved in the case were issued by the Istanbul Criminal Court. They are charged with:
- crimes against humanity;
- genocide;
- unlawful deprivation of liberty;
- cruel treatment;
- intentional infliction of bodily harm;
- robbery and seizure of a vehicle.
Context
In October 2025, the Israeli navy intercepted a large flotilla of over 40 vessels. It was heading to the Gaza Strip on a humanitarian mission — on board one of the flotilla's ships was Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
In November of the same year, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued arrest warrants for 37 Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing them of "genocide" and "crimes against humanity" in Gaza.
