U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has backed calls for a national emergency plan as part of his mass deportation policy and promised to use “all necessary powers,” reports UNN citing Newsweek.
In his Truth Social platform, the president-elect responded to reports that he is considering the move to ensure that military resources are used to carry out deportations of foreign criminals who entered the country illegally.
Trump made immigration a major component of his successful bid to occupy the White House, which allowed him to win a decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.
Caroline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump-Vance transition, told Newsweek, “President Trump will enlist all necessary federal and state powers to conduct the largest deportation operation of illegal criminals, drug traffickers and human traffickers in American history, while lowering costs for families.
“The American people re-elected President Trump by a wide margin, giving him a mandate to fulfill the promises he made on the campaign trail, such as deporting migrant criminals and restoring our economic greatness. He will fulfill them.
Conservative commentator Tom Fitton wrote in a post, “The incoming administration is reportedly prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military resources to reverse Biden's intrusion through a mass deportation program.
Responding to Fitton's remarks, Trump wrote, “TRUTH.
Fitton is a prominent conservative activist and president of Judicial Watch, a community group dedicated to investigating government corruption.
Trump has previously warned that he would enlist the National Guard as well as state agencies to implement his proposed deportation policy. However, there are questions about legal restrictions on military involvement in domestic law enforcement.
