"Congratulations to all our American friends on the US Independence Day! We understand what independence means to you, Americans, and you can see that it means the same to us, Ukrainians. We value independence equally and rely on our brave men and women to defend it. Together, we give hope to people around the world. Hope that freedom will always win," Zelensky wrote in X.
The President emphasized that "true independence is always the result of battles won, and freedom must be strengthened by victories every time tyranny tries to destroy it." "Different generations of Americans and Ukrainians have seen this firsthand, and it is imperative that current generations pass on their children and grandchildren a strong independence and lasting freedom," he said.
"On this day, we join our staunch ally to honor this supreme value for both our nations. We do so with deep gratitude for all the support the United States has provided and continues to provide to Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, independence and security - not only for its own, but for all free peoples. Thank you, America. Thank you to every American heart that beats in unison with the brave Ukrainian hearts fighting for independence.
