Over the past two days, 460 millimeters of precipitation has fallen in the city of Kuji in the Iwate region. Another 250 millimeters may fall by Tuesday.
For comparison, during the extreme Hans weather in 2023, according to the Meteorological Institute, a maximum of 129 millimeters was recorded at the Tunkhovd measuring station over three days.
