Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the suspect who attempted to breach a checkpoint at the White House Correspondents' Dinner last night likely targeted representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration. He told this to CNN, UNN reports.
"We are still trying to understand the motive. According to our preliminary investigation, the suspect intended to (shoot at – Ed.) members of the administration. We do not yet have specific data on specific members of the administration, other than our understanding that this was his goal and objective,"
He added that law enforcement agencies conducted a series of searches, including on electronic devices, and spoke with people who knew the suspect.
"It appears that he purchased two firearms, which were in his possession, over the past few years. He also had knives,"
