Iran has stated that any military base used for attacks on its territory will be considered a "legitimate target." Such threats were directed at RAF Fairford in southwestern England.
Iran accuses the US of using the British base
According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims that the US has resumed using B-1 strategic bombers for strikes on targets in Iran. CNN notes that it cannot independently confirm this information. Meanwhile, Axios reported that the US military used B-1s during strikes on IRGC targets.
RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire is used as a forward operating base for American strategic bombers. Since the beginning of March, B-1 Lancer aircraft have been stationed there, followed by B-52 Stratofortresses, which have carried out combat missions.
The base is located approximately 4,500 km from Tehran. As CNN notes, it is currently unclear whether Iran has the capability to carry out a precision strike at such a distance. Meanwhile, in March, Tehran launched missiles toward a joint US-UK base on Diego Garcia, but none reached their target.
