Actor Paul Wesley, who is best known for starring in The Vampire Diaries, will play the lead role in the six-part miniseries "Unspoken" about the war in Ukraine, Deadline reports, writes UNN.

The series is set against the backdrop of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It tells the story of the journey of Pavel (Wesley), a former soldier who became a taxi driver in Poland.
"After receiving a desperate call from his wife from Kiev on the day of the invasion, he races against time, crossing borders to bring his family to safety amid chaos and unimaginable horror. Over the phone, he guides them through a landscape of fear and violence, heightening their sense of urgency as they struggle to survive in the face of insurmountable difficulties," Deadline noted.
Inspired by the real events that took place on the day of the Russian invasion, the series will tell about Pavel's search in the war-torn territory, but through his own internal battles of redemption and perseverance.
"In a world engulfed by war, I passionately wish to revive the human side of this conflict through the lens of one man and his family. I hope that the audience will get into Paul's struggle and learn something meaningful about life, values and resilience from his path and a renewed understanding of the human spirit under pressure," Wesley said.
David Straiton, who directed episodes of Magnum Private Eye, The Good Doctor and MacGyver, will direct the series, which is a co-production of four countries: Poland, Ukraine, Germany and the United States. The series was written by Polish writer Philip Sychinsky, together with Ukrainian Zhanna Ozirna.
Filming will take place mainly in English with a small number of Ukrainian and Polish languages. Production is scheduled to begin in Eastern Europe in the winter of 2025-2026.
