The Russian Ministry of Defense called the deadly massive attack on Ukraine a "retaliatory strike," once again resorting to Moscow's narrative regarding the strike in Starobilsk. "Russian officials are justifying another terrorist strike on Ukraine with blatant speculation about an alleged 'act of retribution for the bloody crime in Starobilsk'," stated the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the NSDC, UNN reports.
The Russian MoD claimed that the "massive strike" was carried out including with "hypersonic aero-ballistic missiles," and listed targets in Kyiv and 11 regions.
As the CCD of the NSDC pointed out, Kremlin propagandists and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin personally produce daily statements about "inevitable punishment for the Ukrainian junta" and an alleged "new quality of the conflict after the crime in Starobilsk."
"In Starobilsk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck exclusively military targets; however, Russian propaganda launched a large-scale disinformation campaign around this topic involving top Russian officials, diplomats, and other official structures," the CCD of the NSDC emphasized.
"The goal of this campaign is obvious — to use widely circulated fabrications about a 'terrible crime in Starobilsk' to justify the continuation of the aggressive war and the terror against the civilian population of Ukraine," the CCD of the NSDC emphasized.
