The President told the congressmen that he had had a phone conversation with U.S. President Joseph Biden before meeting with them.
The heads of state, among other things, discussed the possibility of speeding up the provision of a military aid package to Ukraine.
The number one issue is air defense. We absolutely need air defense. Once the decision is made, we really need concrete help with this. We also need very specific weapons to be able to help the military and protect civilians. We are talking about the need, of course, for weapons that hit at a greater radius. Artillery shells are also very important.
During the meeting with the congressmen, Zelenskyy discussed in detail macro-financial and military assistance, including the need for artillery shells, long-range missiles, electronic warfare and UAVs, combat aircraft, and support for the development of the Ukrainian defense industry.
The parties also discussed the confiscation of frozen assets of the Russian Federation, as well as support for Ukraine on its path to NATO, the Ukrainian peace formula and the participation of the United States in the inaugural peace summit.
