The Kremlin continues to use an "anti-colonial" narrative to expand its own geopolitical influence in the countries of the Global South. This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation, according to UNN.

The CCD noted that during a security forum in Moscow, an exhibition by the Russian Military-Historical Society was opened, dedicated to the theme of "European slave trade and colonialism."
According to the Center, the organizers of the event openly declare their intention to shape an impression among foreign guests that cruelty is allegedly a "common feature of European policy." Russian propaganda is also attempting to artificially equate the historical traumas of the Global South countries with events in the USSR during World War II.
The CCD emphasizes that in this way, the Kremlin is trying to whitewash its own imperial history and present Russia in the role of a "victim."

At the same time, the CCD underscores that such rhetoric conceals Moscow's own neo-colonial interests.
