The GRU paralyzed the work of one of Russia's largest banks, Gazprombank. As a result of the cyberattack, the bank's clients do not have access to online banking and mobile user accounts. UNN reports this with reference to its sources.
The cyber specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate successfully conducted a large-scale cyber attack on the systems of the Russian sanctioned Gazprombank, which is one of the three largest banks in Russia. As a result of the powerful DDOS attack, Gazprombank's customers lost access to online banking and the bank's mobile user account. Hundreds of thousands of Russians were unable to make money transfers and online payments due to the inoperable Gazprombank applications
The success of the cyber operation is confirmed by panicked comments from Russians on social media and complaints on the bank's pages.
It is also reported that the attack blocked the operation of Gazprombank terminals across Russia. Thus, fare payment terminals stopped working in public transport in Tomsk. A similar problem hit public transportation in Voronezh. Due to the paralysis of Gazprombank's terminals, the Samara Philharmonic sold tickets only for cash and only at the box office - online purchases and card payments were not possible.
Russian media confirmed the fact of a DDOS attack on Gazprombank's website, which stopped opening in France and Germany. In addition to the website, the bank's mobile application was also down.
