The Ministry of Defense has codified and allowed the first engineering ground robotic fire extinguishing complex in Ukraine to be used in the units of the Armed Forces. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Defense.
Details
As reported, the robotic fire extinguishing complex is a mobile tracked platform with special equipment for supplying water under pressure or special foam that extinguishes the flame. Using a remote control, the operator directs the robot to the epicenter of the fire from a safe place.
It is noted that the flow of liquid supplied to the source of the fire can be adjusted remotely.
The firefighting robot operates at a distance of up to 2 km from the operator in open terrain and up to 400 m in rugged terrain. The operator receives images from the danger zone where the fire is being extinguished from a video camera of objective control installed on the platform.
As told in the Ministry of Defense, the ground robotic complex was initially developed for the needs of rescuers, but the military became interested in the machine.
Such a robot is needed, for example, in areas where there are unexploded ordnances, when approaching burning equipment with a risk of detonation of the ammunition load, as well as in other potentially dangerous cases related to the risk to the life and health of servicemen. At the request of the military, this robotic platform has been reinforced with a stronger chassis. The range of control and the time of autonomous operation have also been increased.
Thanks to its tracked chassis, this firefighting robot can overcome difficult terrain, drive over burning debris, operate in extreme temperatures, and use its water cannon to create a so-called "water wall".
