The European Commission is going to clarify with Hungary the issue of Budapest's visa facilitation for citizens of Belarus and Russia, emphasizing that all instruments should guarantee the security of the EU and the Schengen area. This was stated during a briefing on Tuesday by European Commission spokesperson Anita Hipper, UNN writes.
The European Commission will, in fact, be in contact with the Hungarian authorities to clarify the scope of this scheme and whether it falls under EU rules. As you know very well, also because of our position, all our policies, Russia is a security threat to the EU, and therefore all instruments at the level of the Union, at the level of the Member States, must guarantee the security of the Union, and also take into account the security of the Schengen area as a whole. And, of course, Hungary is also obliged to constantly check whether all the conditions of entry provided for in Article 6 of the Schengen Borders Code, which apply to third-country nationals, are met
