South Korean actor O Yeong-su, widely known for his role as O Il-nam (Player 001) in the Netflix series "Squid Game", has been sentenced to one year in prison on charges of indecent assault. This was reported by UNN with reference to The Daily Star.

The authors point out that during recent hearings, prosecutors described O as an experienced theater actor with almost 50 years of experience, who "sexually harassed a younger colleague against her will."
Prosecutors argued that the victim lived in fear both professionally and personally after these events. They also criticized O's response, who claimed that his behavior was an expression of parental feelings instead of apologizing
In turn, O Yeong-su's lawyers rejected all charges, arguing that the case is based solely on the victim's testimony, which lacks clarity, consistency and logical details. The actor himself expressed deep regret over the situation.

The publication adds that the charges date back to 2017, when the actor allegedly hugged and kissed the victim against her will near his home - an incident he has repeatedly denied. The announcement of the final verdict in the Court of Appeal is scheduled for June 3.
