Switzerland believes that the war in Ukraine will not end in the near future, and therefore the government plans to integrate up to 40% of Ukrainian refugees. This was reported on Monday, August 5, by SWI, UNN reports.

It is indicated that the country relies on Ukrainians as a labor force, and therefore actively finances language courses for newcomers. In addition, the Swiss government plans to simplify employment for refugees.
Officials do not rule out the possibility that most Ukrainians will return home after the war, but emphasize that five years in the country will allow them to obtain a different status that will extend their legal stay in Switzerland for another five years.

As of July 31, 66,182 Ukrainians have been granted S protection status in Switzerland, while 26,392 S status permits have been revoked since they were first issued in March 2022.
The government explained that many Ukrainians now come to Switzerland from other European countries, not directly from Ukraine. This is one of the main reasons why they do not meet the criteria required to obtain an S permit and are usually denied the appropriate protection.
It is known that only 63.1% of all Ukrainians who have ever applied for asylum or temporary protection in Switzerland are currently registered in the country.
