Sumy Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko's suspension from office has been extended for another two months after being accused of receiving UAH 2.13 million in undue benefit.

The High Anti-Corruption Court has extended the suspension of Sumy Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko from office for another two months. UNN reports this with reference to the SAPO.

On December 8, 2023, the investigating judge of the HACC granted the motion of the SAPO prosecutor and suspended the mayor of Sumy for another two months, who, together with the director of the Department of Infrastructure of the Sumy City Council, was caught asking for and receiving an undue advantage in a particularly large amount, namely UAH 2,130,000

- the report says.

The suspension is to last until February 8, 2024.

Addendum

On October 4, the High Anti-Corruption Court arrested Sumy Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko with the possibility of bail of UAH 3 million.

The prosecutor insisted that Lysenko be held in custody with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 10 million.

On October 6, it became known that Lysenko was released on bail in the amount of UAH 3 million.
