As investigators established, this flight was already the second for the aircraft that day. "Neither before the first nor before the subsequent flight did the technical personnel of the military unit find any comments regarding the technical condition of the aircraft. All official documentation was completed in accordance with established requirements," the statement says.

"It has been confirmed that the pilots were carrying out a combat mission, the details of which have been communicated to the investigation. At the same time, in the interests of national security, this information is not disclosed," the SBI stated. "Separately, the investigation refutes information that was circulated online about the alleged ejection of one of the pilots. This information does not correspond to reality."

As part of the investigation, according to reports, "dozens of interrogations have been conducted, including of the families of the deceased, the command, and their colleagues." "According to eyewitnesses, both servicemen underwent the necessary medical examination before the flight, did not complain about their health, and were in a good mood. They are characterized as professional military personnel who were respected among their colleagues, and no problems in family life that could be relevant to the investigation have been established," the statement notes.

As reported by the SBI, "according to the conclusions of the molecular genetic examination, the DNA of the deceased has been identified, which confirms the identities of the servicemen."

Currently, as indicated, an internal investigation is also ongoing, conducted by the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Upon its completion, an independent aviation technical examination will be appointed.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 2 of Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of flight rules or preparation for them, which caused a disaster or other serious consequences).
