Today, on April 4, a regular meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was held in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told about the results of this meeting during a briefing to journalists, UNN  reports.

Today I chaired a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council. ... I welcome that Allies continue to step up their efforts with important new announcements. But we need to do more. And we need to put our support on an even stronger and more robust footing.

Stoltenberg also noted that the situation on the Ukrainian front remains serious. Ukraine needs more air defense, more ammunition, and even more help from its partners.

At the same time, Stoltenberg gave an interim summary of what has been achieved recently in terms of military support for Ukraine:

  • Almost 600 million euros from Germany were allocated to the "Czech initiative" to help Ukraine with artillery shells.
  • The United Kingdom will provide 10,000 drones to help the Ukrainian military.
  • France promised to provide more missiles and armored vehicles to protect Ukrainians. 
  • And Finland announced a new package of assistance to Ukraine worth 188 million euros.

The NATO Secretary General also added that yesterday Allies agreed to move forward with planning for a stronger NATO role in coordinating the necessary security and training assistance for Ukraine. He promised that this work will continue in the coming weeks.
