"The patient, 35 years old, stayed from March 18, 2026 to March 24, 2026 on Toddu Island (Republic of Maldives). During her stay, she noted mosquito bites," the report says.
The illness, it is reported, began on March 24 with chills, headache, fever up to 38.4°C, sore throat, and the appearance of a papular rash on the feet.
On March 31, the woman first sought medical help from a family doctor.

On April 1, she was hospitalized in the regional infectious disease hospital with a preliminary diagnosis: fever of unknown origin, suspected Dengue fever. At the same time, blood was taken for laboratory tests.
The parasitological laboratory of the center conducted a blood test for the presence of malaria plasmodia - no pathogens were detected. The material was sent to the reference laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine (laboratory for the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, viral and especially dangerous pathogens), the center reported.

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted through the bites of infected mosquitoes and is common in tropical and subtropical regions.
The vectors of infection are mosquitoes of the Aedes genus.
The disease is characterized by:

- muscle pain;
- skin rash.
