The use of ground robots has replaced over two thousand infantrymen in 164 operations. Technology is helping the AFU compensate for personnel shortages.

Ukraine is increasingly using robotic systems and drones at the front, forcing Russian troops to retreat and change tactics. This is reported in a CNN report from eastern Ukraine, according to UNN.

Details

The American television channel notes that due to a shortage of personnel and the prolonged war, Ukraine has undergone a rapid transformation in the conduct of hostilities. A significant portion of operations is now carried out without the direct participation of military personnel on the front line – using drones, ground robots, and remote-controlled equipment.

The report focuses on a unit of the Third Assault Brigade, which conducts attacks on Russian positions using robotic platforms with explosives. Operations are coordinated from shelters dozens of kilometers away from the front.

According to the Ukrainian military, the Russians call these machines "silent death" because they only hear them at a distance of about 10 meters – already within striking range.

The publication writes that in just 164 assault operations, the unit calculated: to achieve a similar result using conventional infantry, Ukraine would have had to involve about 2,300 soldiers, while half of them could have been killed or wounded.

If such equipment had been available earlier, more of my brothers-in-arms would have remained alive

- stated the deputy commander of the unit, who previously fought in Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

Unit commander Makar Zinkevych noted that modern warfare is completely changing under the influence of technology.

Now technology decides everything. There is no going back

- he said.

CNN also emphasizes that Ukraine has set an ambitious goal - to eliminate or disable up to 35,000 Russian military personnel every month. According to the British intelligence agency GCHQ, Russia's total losses in killed could have already reached 500,000 people.

The report also describes other robotic systems that Ukraine is actively implementing: unmanned platforms with heavy machine guns, drones for delivering ammunition, evacuating the wounded, and supplying forward positions.

At the same time, journalists point out that Ukraine continues to face an acute shortage of manpower. The article cites the example of two Ukrainian soldiers who spent more than 330 days at forward positions with almost no rotation.

The only thing that kept me going was my children and my wife. Otherwise, I would have gone crazy a long time ago

- said one of the soldiers.

According to the media outlet's assessment, the robotization of war has become not only a technological advantage for Ukraine but also a way to save the lives of thousands of soldiers.
