The Russian Telegram channel Astra reported that a video was posted on the Telegram channel of the NS/WP (National-Socialism/White Power) neo-Nazi movement, allegedly showing the moment of Irina Farion's murder. The video shows a ten-second excerpt where women's screams are heard. The video also shows the manifesto of an “autonomous revolutionary racist” who claimed responsibility for the murder.
The manifesto is written in Russian. The author of Farion's murder attributed the motiveto the fact that the former MP incited hatred on the basis of language within Ukrainian society.

On July 19, an unidentified person shot at Iryna Farion, a linguist and professor at Lviv Polytechnic. The woman was taken to the hospital with a head wound in an extremely serious condition. Iryna Farion died in the hospital.
