Suicides are deliberately concealed. Cases of servicemen dying by their own hands are recorded - the command registers them as "combat losses" or "accidents with weapons". Officers are afraid of penalties for "weak personnel", the truth does not go up
The agent also indicates that alcohol has become the only way to psychologically survive: moonshine and cheap surrogates "get into the units through their own people." People serve while intoxicated - and commanders no longer react to this. Violence within units has gotten out of control: officers beat subordinates, conflicts escalate into armed ones.
