Since the beginning of June 2026, Russia plans to almost completely close the airspace in the Moscow region to civil aviation. This was reported by the Interregional Public Organization of Pilots and Aircraft Owners (AOPA) on social media, according to UNN.

According to the organization, flights of civil aircraft in the Moscow air zone at altitudes from 0 to 5,100 meters will be completely prohibited. The restrictions will cover a significant part of the airspace around the Russian capital, including directions toward the border with Belarus, as well as the regions of Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Samara.

At the same time, regular and charter passenger flights to and from airports will not be subject to the restrictions. Flights for air ambulance services, medical evacuation, aerial chemical works, infrastructure inspection, and flights performed under state contracts will also be permitted. AOPA noted that an official notice with details of the new restrictions will be released later.
