It is reported that on November 28, 2024, the plenary session of the Constitutional Court considered the appeal of one of the participants of the race, Christian Terges, to cancel the Romanian Presidential election of November 24, 2024.

- the message says.

The court also announced that it unanimously rejected the request of another candidate, Sebastian Popescu, to annul the election.

Аddition

Presidential candidates Sebastian Popescu and Christian Terges have filed requests with the Romanian Constitutional Court to cancel the results of the first round of presidential elections.

In his lawsuit, Terges, who received about 1% of the vote in the election, argued that some votes for another candidate who dropped out a week before the election and supported Lasconi were illegally transferred to another candidate.

The second plaintiff, Sebastian Constantin Popescu, who won 0.15% of the vote, accused one of the winners of the first round, Celin Giorgescu, of concealing the sources of funding for his campaign.

According to the results of the first round of elections held on November 24, unexpectedly for many analysts, the pro – russian politician, popular TikTok and far-right populist Kelin Giorgescu won - he was supported by almost 23% of voters.

In the second round, which will be held on December 8, Giorgescu will face pro-Western candidate Elena Lasconi.

Recall

Romania's National Broadcasting Council asks the European Commission to investigate TikTok's activities due to suspected manipulation of the presidential election. The platform is accused of promoting pro-russian candidate Celin Giorgescu through fake accounts.
