Restoring energy infrastructure and attracting German assistance: Zelenskyy talks to German Vice Chancellor

President Zelenskyy met with German Vice Chancellor Gabek to discuss Ukraine's defense needs, strengthening air defense, rebuilding energy infrastructure, economic cooperation, and preparations for upcoming conferences on Ukraine's recovery and peace efforts.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Vice Chancellor, Federal Minister of Economy and Climate Protection of Germany Robert Habeck, who is on a visit to our country, UNN reports.

The Head of State praised Germany's comprehensive support for Ukraine in the struggle against Russian aggression. In particular, he noted the assistance to the regions.

"In general, I would like to thank Germany and the entire German society for their very significant support of Ukraine throughout the full-scale war, during all these challenges," the President emphasized.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed about the intensification of Russian missile terror against our country. We also focused on the importance of further strengthening Ukraine's air defense with modern Western-made systems.

"It is difficult to overestimate the decision of Germany to support us with the new Patriot system. Protection of the sky is our priority today," the Head of State said.

During the meeting, they discussed the restoration of energy infrastructure after Russian missile strikes, as well as ways to attract German assistance for the speedy repair of damaged power plants.

Particular attention was paid to bilateral cooperation in the defense industry and the defense needs of Ukrainian defenders. The President expressed gratitude for all the military support provided by Germany and discussed key areas of further assistance with Robert Habeck.

According to the Presidential Administration, the parties also exchanged views on attracting German investment in Ukraine and developing economic cooperation, and coordinated steps to prepare for the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine to be held in Berlin in June this year. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's expectations regarding the results of the event.

The parties also discussed the first Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, which will also take place this June. The President expressed gratitude for the support of the Ukrainian peace formula by Germany and assistance of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in its promotion.
