Portugal announced that it would donate 100 million euros to the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine outside the EU. The Ministry of Defense thanked Ukraine for the support. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Portuguese and Ukrainian defense ministries.
Portugal is supporting Ukraine by allocating 100 million euros for artillery ammunition. Together with several European countries, we join the Czech Republic's procurement initiative
It is noted that the use of this ammunition on the battlefield has reached an extremely high level, making it "vital and urgent for Ukraine to obtain additional ammunition to respond to ongoing and increasingly intense attacks by Russia.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Portugal has transferred to Ukraine..:
- A set of Leopard 2A6 battle tanks;
- More than 40 M113 armored personnel carriers;
- Artillery ammunition;
- Howitzers and various weapons;
- High-speed vessels and unmanned aircraft systems;
- Medical and sanitary equipment, as well as communications equipment;
- Generators for electricity production;
- Clothing, uniforms and individual combat equipment, etc.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine thanked Portugal for joining the Czech initiative to purchase shells.
"Thank you, Portugal! Unity makes us stronger," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
