The Hungarian Prime Minister called friendly communication with Putin a common formula and denied wiretapping opponents. He hopes that the special services are looking for the source of the recording leak.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that he sees nothing special in his conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, which was "leaked" to the media, where Orbán declared that he was ready to take significant steps to help the Russian leader, including facilitating the settlement of the war in Ukraine. Orbán stated this in an interview with Index, as reported by UNN

This is a common formula in communication with politicians. On a human level, we cannot be in such relationships, because for that we would have to herd pigs together, to put it simply. The fact is that with the US president, many European leaders, the Russian president, and the leaders of several Central Asian countries, we are in such relationships that we call each other friends, and with some even brothers, which is interesting, mostly with Muslim leaders. As for the Americans, there is camaraderie between us. I wouldn't see anything special in this

- said Orbán.

When asked how he would react to a similar recording of a conversation between, for example, his rival Péter Magyar and German MEP Manfred Weber of the "European People's Party," Orbán stated that Hungary "does not eavesdrop on political opponents," and also expressed hope that the special services are working to find out how the transcript of the phone conversation with Putin became public.

Recall

VSquare published new audio recordings of Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in which Szijjártó promises to hand over to Russia a document regarding negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, during a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, stated that he was ready to take significant steps to help the Russian leader, including facilitating the settlement of the war in Ukraine by organizing a summit in Budapest. He also offered to be a "mouse" helping a "lion."
