No blackouts are expected, almost 500 settlements are without electricity - Ukrenergo

Electricity consumption in Ukraine remains high. No blackouts are expected today. Due to hostilities and other reasons, 487 settlements are without electricity. This was reported by NPC "Ukrenergo" and the Ministry of Energy on Thursday, UNN reports.

Consumption

"Today, on August 8, as of 9:30 a.m., the level of consumption is the same as yesterday, August 7. The use of restrictive measures is not expected today," Ukrenergo said.

"The situation in the power system remains stable," the Ministry of Energy added.

Yesterday, August 7, the maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the previous day.

Ukrainians were urged to shift the use of powerful electrical appliances to daytime hours, from 11:00 to 15:00, if possible. This is the period when the power system has the most electricity due to the active operation of solar power plants.

Due to the hostilities and other reasons, 487 settlements are completely or partially without electricity. Due to hostilities: there are power outages in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. For technical reasons, consumers in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions were cut off from electricity supply, Ukrenergo reported.

At the same time, the Ministry of Energy reports the following:

  • Southern region: over the past day, a high-voltage overhead line connecting the power systems of Ukraine and Moldova was briefly disconnected. The power supply has been restored.
  • Central region: high-voltage substations, household consumers, and the railroad were partially de-energized (no train traffic disruptions). Power supply has been restored to all consumers.
  • Western region: substations, household and industrial consumers in Rivne and Zhytomyr regions lost power. The power supply has been restored.

Shelling

Donetsk region: several substations, household consumers, and mines were cut off from power as a result of the hostilities. At the time of the incident, 118 people were working in the mines. The power supply has been restored, the Energy Ministry said.

Emergencies

Donetsk region: a fire broke out on the territory of a mine as a result of hostile shelling. No combustion products entered the mine, and no personnel were injured. The fire has been extinguished, the Ministry of Energy said.

Situation at ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 14.73 meters. According to the Ministry of Energy, this is enough to meet the needs of the plant.
