The newly elected head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Serhiy Byzov, plans to strengthen the trade union movement. An audit of all trade union property will be conducted, along with a personnel review and the formation of a strong management team. Serhiy Byzov shared this during a briefing after being elected head of the FTUU, reports a correspondent for UNN.
"First, a major audit of the entire property complex—what we have lost and what remains—so that the property complex serves the working people. As I promised, there will be significant discounts for all trade union members. Second is a personnel review, assessing the current potential, and forming a new, strong team. Third is the strengthening of the trade union movement,"
In addition, according to him, an audit of laws passed without proper social dialogue will be conducted on the basis of the Federation of Trade Unions and the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council (NTSEC). They will be given a corresponding public assessment.
"Today we are strengthening the trade union movement. And we are setting it up not for decline, but for growth. In this, our work specifically with the private sector, not just with the civil service, will serve us. We will strengthen our presence as a social partner of the state on all platforms of social dialogue," noted Serhiy Byzov.
He added that close cooperation between the FTUU and the business community has already begun to take shape, including an established dialogue with CEO Club Ukraine (a club of business leaders), the "Yuzivskyi Business Club," and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Furthermore, according to Byzov, the FTUU has already held negotiations with large enterprises, such as the VARUS, EVA, OKKO, and WOG networks.
The newly elected head of the FTUU added that work to defend workers' rights will also continue.
"Today there is an understanding and, most importantly, a need for working people to be protected. And this is our sacred war for the next five years—the fight against 'labor collective councils,' which today are simply 'worthless scraps of paper.' Therefore, it is the trade union movement that will be strengthened," he noted.
