Starting from May 3, 2026, updated safety rules for railway infrastructure and rolling stock will come into force in Ukraine. This was announced by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, writes UNN.

The ministry noted that the changes were approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 53 of January 26, 2022. They are part of the adaptation of the Ukrainian railway sector to European Union technical standards.
The new rules define which railway products will be subject to conformity assessment, what procedures will be used for inspections, and what requirements will be placed on organizations that carry out certification.
Not only products, but also processes will be evaluated
The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development explained that the updated approaches provide for the certification of not only individual elements of infrastructure or rolling stock, but also the processes themselves – manufacturing, modernization, and repair.
The agency emphasized that this should change the approach to safety control in the industry – from a formal check of individual products to systemic control at all stages of their life cycle.
Preparation for the implementation of the new rules lasted more than four years. During this time, the Ministry of Economy appointed eight organizations that can conduct conformity assessment according to the new technical regulations. One of the reasons for the long transition was the need to create our own national procedures after Ukraine's withdrawal from regulatory mechanisms within the CIS.
