Poland's new ambassador to Ukraine, Jaroslaw Guzy, has arrived in Kyiv and has already submitted copies of his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expects a visit from Polish diplomat Radoslaw Sikorski, UNN reports citing RAR.
Guzy noted that during his mission he would continue or implement "all the positive things that happened during the war and those that the new government plans to introduce."
"Of course, this is the development of all relations in the most positive way, whether political, economic or cultural, which together can form a strategic partnership, of course, in the specific conditions of war," he explained.
According to the diplomat, the most important capital that should not be lost is good relations between the peoples of the two countries.
"The most important capital that cannot be wasted is the social capital we have accumulated. The improvement of Polish-Ukrainian relations at the social level, the trust that Poles and Ukrainians have in each other - this cannot be wasted, because this is what any political force in Poland and Ukraine can build on, despite all the turbulence and changes," Guzy said.
Born in 1955 in Krakow, Jarosław Guzy studied sociology and history at the Jagiellonian University. He worked in the Student Solidarity Committee and since 1980 has been a member of the Independent Student Union. In 1981, he was elected chairman of the organization's National Coordination Commission.
Jaroslaw Guzy has replaced Bartosz Cichocki, who has held the post of Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine since March 2019, including during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has been ongoing since February 24, 2022.
