At an investor briefing on Wednesday, Nintendo announced that software that plays on the Switch will also be playable on the next console.

Nintendo has released new important information about the successor to the Nintendo Switch, about which there is very little official information.
President Shuntaro Furukawa announced in a post on the company's social channels that the new console, currently called Nintendo Switch 2, will be compatible with all the old games that made the basic model popular.
The same was confirmed at an investor briefing on Wednesday.
It is currently known that the Kyoto-based company will continue to release new Switch software.
“Moving away from the traditional dedicated video game platform business cycles we have seen in the past, we intend to maintain the momentum of our business by continuing to attract many people to Nintendo Switch,” the company said in its presentation material.
As of September, total sales of the Nintendo Switch reached 146 million since its launch in 2017. Software sales reached 1.3 billion units, making the Switch the company's most popular console.
