In a village near Odesa, a 10-year-old girl was carried away on an inflatable ring into the sea; rescuers and police were involved in the search for the child, reports UNN citing the police of Odesa region.

Preliminarily, law enforcement officers established that the young girl, together with her great-grandmother, entered the sea to swim at a spontaneous beach, where swimming is prohibited, near one of the recreation centers in the village of Sychavka, Pivdenne community. Due to a strong current, the child on an inflatable ring began to be carried into deeper water. The great-grandmother tried to save the girl but was unable to.
Police officers and rescuers from the State Emergency Service are involved in the search for the child.
Distinguishing features of Sofia: height 120-130 cm, slim build, light blonde hair, gray-blue eyes. She was wearing a red swimsuit.
Regarding the disappearance of the minor, investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under paragraph 2 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the note "missing without a trace."
