On November 9, the Central Election Commission (CEC) held a meeting to approve the results of the second round of the presidential election held in Moldova on November 3, UNN reports citing Newsmaker.
The commission approved the report, according to which the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, won the election.
According to CEC Chairperson Angelica Caraman, "candidate Maia Sandu, who received the highest number of votes in the second round of elections, is declared the winner." According to the CEC's report, Sandu received over 930,100 votes (55.35%) in the second round, while her rival, the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), former Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo, received over 750,400 votes (44.65%).
The second round of elections was attended by 1.7 million people out of the 2.7 million included in the main voter lists.
The documents approved by the CEC will be submitted to the Constitutional Court for approval.
