The inefficient work of the International Committee of the Red Cross does not provide Ukraine with complete information about the real number of prisoners of war in the Russian Federation, so at least some additional data verification mechanism is needed.
This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets during a briefing, reports UNN.
The only official mechanism for confirming Russian captivity is the International Committee of the Red Cross. We all understand how they work. It is precisely because of the inefficiency of the ICRC that we have assumptions. If, in my opinion, they worked effectively, we would clearly know that there are such a large number of prisoners of war in Russian captivity, and the rest are missing
According to him, it is precisely because of the poor-quality work of the ICRC that we cannot confirm all Ukrainians in Russian captivity. It is only possible to assume that among those whom we managed to officially confirm, there is a part that remains in captivity without Office confirmation.
As for the mechanisms of cooperation with families whose relatives have the status of officially missing persons, we are moving in 2 ways. We need at least some additional mechanism for verifying data from the Russian Federation
