Three Ukrainians who got lost in the Maramures Mountains in Romania were found by mountain rescuers. This was reported by Digi24, according to UNN.
Details
On Tuesday evening, three Ukrainian citizens who crossed the border with Romania through one of the most risky sections of the Maramures Mountains called the single emergency number 112. A joint group of mountain rescuers and border police went in search of them.
After 12 hours, the rescuers decided to stop searching for the Ukrainians. They reportedly did not follow instructions and left the place where they were supposed to wait for help.
However, later, the head of the mountain rescue service, Sabine Kornoiu, said that the three Ukrainians were found alive.
“The rescuers expanded the search area today and hoped to intervene with a helicopter for an aerial search, but the flight conditions were not the best. Therefore, all searches today were conducted on the ground and, fortunately for us, we were able to correctly assess the area where they could have retreated, finding them in a very dangerous valley,” he said.
According to him, one of them received several injuries due to falling stones in the area, and the other two have “mild hypothermia”. All of them will be taken to the hospital.
