Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the country will lift the moratorium on the deployment of medium- and short-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. This was reported by the Voice of America, according to UNN.

It is noted that Lavrov's statement came after the United States announced that it would begin deploying long-range missiles to Germany in 2026 in preparation for a long-term deployment that will include SM-6, Tomahawk cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons under development.
Asked whether Russia could withdraw from the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) before it expires in February 2026, Lavrov said that there are currently “no conditions” for a strategic dialogue with the United States.
