Kilauea Volcano, located on the Hawaiian Islands (USA), is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It has started erupting again. This was reported by USA Today, according to UNN.
Details
According to the Hawaiian Volcanic Observatory, there is no immediate danger to residents, as volcanic activity is currently limited to the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park. The park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covers the peaks of two of the world's most active volcanoes: Kilauea and Mauna Loa.
But the authorities warn that the immediate threat is volcanic smog, which can reach settlements with the help of winds.
The smoke from the erupting lava contains sulfur dioxide, an irritating gas with a pungent odor that can worsen symptoms in people with respiratory conditions such as asthma and cardiovascular disease.
The area where the eruption is taking place has been closed to the public since 2007 due to the risk of rockfalls and the fragility of the volcano's crater walls.
Recall
A powerful eruption of the Kanlaon volcano occurred in the Philippines , causing a mass evacuation of 87 thousand people. The authorities declared a danger zone within a 6 km radius and raised the alert level to the third level.
