The EU's top diplomat expects the loan to be approved this Wednesday. The financial aid is intended to signal Russia's inability to exhaust Ukraine in the war.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas expects a decision on a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine on Wednesday, she said upon arriving at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Tuesday, UNN reports.

First, of course, we will discuss the war in Ukraine, and we expect positive decisions tomorrow regarding the 90 billion euro loan. Ukraine really needs this loan, and it is also a sign that Russia will not be able to outlast Ukraine. This is extremely important at this moment.

- Kallas said.

According to reports, the EU has taken a decisive step towards providing Ukraine with 90 billion euros in financial assistance. This issue, it is reported, has been put on the agenda of the meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU countries on April 22. This concerns the approval of an amendment to the EU's multiannual budget – the last technical element needed to launch the loan for Ukraine, as announced on Monday, April 20, by the representative of Cyprus, which holds the presidency of the EU Council.

The 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine, which has been resisting Russia's full-scale military aggression for the fifth year, had long been blocked by the outgoing Hungarian government.
