Judicial corruption in Lviv region: a new suspect

Borys Plotnytskyi was served a notice of suspicion of extortion of a $1 million bribe from a representative of a private company. The case also involves the chairman of the Economic Court of Lviv region.

The former head of the Western Economic Court of Appeal was served a notice of suspicion in a case of extortion of a $1 million bribe from a representative of a private company. UNN reports this with reference to the SAPO.

As UNN has learned from its own sources, it is about Borys Plotnitsky.

"On December 26, 2024, on behalf of the head of the SAPO, the prosecutor, with the participation of NABU detectives, served a notice of suspicion to the former head of the Economic Court of Appeal of one of the regions," the statement said.

The NABU indicates that it is the former head of the Western Economic Court of Appeal.

"Thus, in early December 2024, the SAPO and the NABU exposed a judge and the former chairman of the Economic Court of one of the regions on extortion of USD 1 million in undue advantage from a representative of a private company. In exchange for these funds, the individuals promised to ensure the adoption of the necessary decisions in court cases that were in the proceedings of one of the appellate economic courts," the statement said.

The SAPO and the NABU established the involvement of another person in the crime, namely the former head of the Economic Court of Appeal.

As of today, the actions of all the exposed persons are qualified under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The current and former chairmen of the Economic Court of Lviv region were served a notice of suspicion of extortion of USD 1 million in unlawful benefit from a representative of a private company.

We are talking about Vasyl Artimovych and the former Mykhailo Yurkevych.

Subsequently, the High Council of Justice granted permission to detain Vasyl Artimovych, the head of the Economic Court of Lviv Region, and suspended him from administering justice for two months.

Also, the HCJ gave its consent to the arrest of Yurkevych.

On December 13 , it was reportedthat the HACC remanded Vasyl Artimovych, head of the Economic Court of Lviv region, to custody with an alternative of UAH 20 million bail.

The former head of the Lviv Commercial Court, Mykhailo Yurkevych, was sent to custody by the HACC with an alternative of UAH 12 million bail.
