Iran has tried in vain to prevent the West from promoting a resolution against it at a meeting of the IAEA Board of Directors by proposing to limit its uranium stockpile to a level that does not correspond to weapons-grade. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.
Details
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported in two confidential reports on Tuesday that Iran has proposed not to increase its stockpile of enriched uranium to a purity level of 60 percent and has already made the necessary preparations to implement this proposal.
One of the two quarterly reports, reported by Reuters, states that "The possibility that Iran will not further expand its stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% U-235 was discussed" during IAEA chief Rafael Grossi's trip to Iran last week. The report also confirms that the UN agency has confirmed that Iran is ready to do so.
The IAEA confirmed that Iran "has begun implementing preparatory measures". The senior diplomat added that the rate of uranium enrichment to this level has slowed, which is a necessary step before a shutdown.
However, Western diplomats have rejected Iran's proposal, as they see it as a last-minute attempt to avoid criticism at the board meeting, similar to the promise to deepen cooperation with the IAEA last March, which was never fully implemented.

According to a senior diplomat, Iran's proposal was to limit its stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% to about 185 kg, or the amount it had two days ago. This is in principle enough, with further enrichment, for four nuclear warheads, according to IAEA standards. Iran denies that it is seeking nuclear weapons.
He emphasized that Iran's proposal to limit its stockpile to about 185 kilograms depends on whether Western powers postpone the adoption of the planned resolution against Tehran at the upcoming meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors in the coming days.

The IAEA report states that Iran's stockpile of uranium enriched to 60% increased by 17.6 kg over the last quarter to 182.3 kg as of October 26, which is also enough for four warheads by this measure.

Iranian Foreign Minister warned European states against submitting a resolution against Tehran to the IAEA. Araqchi emphasized that such actions could seriously complicate the situation and lead to an escalation of tensions.
