Iran has launched a new mechanism for regulating maritime shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported on Tuesday by Iranian state television Press TV, according to UNN with reference to CNN.
According to the report, under the new system, all vessels intending to pass through the Strait of Hormuz will receive emails from an address associated with the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), containing information on the new rules and regulations for passage.
Vessels are required to obtain transit permission before crossing this waterway, one of the world's most critical hubs for oil transportation.
The initiative was described as a "sovereign management system and is already operational in the Strait of Hormuz," the report said.
