Juvenile prosecutors of the Nemyriv District Prosecutor's Office proved in court the guilt of a 46-year-old resident of the Vinnytsia district, who was accused of systematic rape of a minor child. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, writes UNN.
The panel of judges supported the prosecution's position and sentenced the man to the maximum possible punishment - life imprisonment.
The accused's parents provided temporary shelter to the man with two children who had no home of their own. The children's father periodically left for work in another city, leaving them under the care of the hosts.
Taking advantage of this situation, the accused, at night, showed pornographic videos to the 9-year-old boy and systematically raped him. The crimes continued from September 2024 to May 2025.
The child was under the complete psychological control of the abuser and for a long time could not report the crimes. Only four months after the last episode did the boy dare to tell his father about what he had experienced.
After receiving this information, law enforcement officers promptly detained him and took him into custody.
The victim has been provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance, which is still ongoing. The other child was not harmed.
By court verdict, the man was convicted of: rape of a person who has not reached fourteen years of age, regardless of their voluntary consent, committed repeatedly; committing lewd acts against a minor; distributing pornographic works and images among minors, committed repeatedly.
In court, the accused did not admit guilt and did not repent.
Life imprisonment in this case is not just about the severity of the punishment, it is about justice for the victim child. It is about the state fulfilling its duty to protect children, because it is not only about what was committed in the past, but also about preventing the recurrence of the crime in the future.
