The procedure for obtaining permits for the exhumation of the remains of victims of the Volyn tragedy will be accelerated as much as possible. This was reported in a comment to Polish Radio by the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Oleksandr Alfiorov, writes UNN.

According to him, the relevant commission that makes these decisions is currently working in an operational mode, so documents will be processed almost immediately after the completion of search work.
This statement came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that Polish researchers would face no obstacles in conducting search work and exhumation of remains. Since the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory is responsible for issuing the relevant approvals, the agency has optimized its internal procedures.
Alfiorov explained that according to Ukrainian legislation, exhumations must be preceded by search work. The permit for conducting the searches themselves is issued by the Ministry of Culture, while the direct permit for exhumation is issued by a commission under the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. Under normal circumstances, there was a certain waiting period for approval between these stages, but now the commission makes decisions very quickly.
