The acting governor of the Kursk region, Oleksandr Khinshtein, said that Volkov was seriously injured. He was taken to the Oboyan Central Regional Hospital with a mine-blast injury, burns to his face, forearm, left arm, legs, and upper respiratory tract, and is now connected to a ventilator; he is being urgently transported to the Kursk Regional Hospital. "A consultation has already been convened with the involvement of the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine and specialists from the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine.
