In June of this year, at least 265 Ukrainian civilians were killed and another 1,816 were injured as a result of Russian strikes. This is the highest total casualty figure since the first months after the full-scale Russian invasion, reports UNN citing Reuters.

Rosemary DiCarlo, Head of the UN Department of Political Affairs, noted that the number of civilians killed and wounded in Ukraine in May was the highest since April 2022, but data from the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights points to an even higher number of casualties in June and likely in July.
This alarming trend appears to be continuing into July
She cited three large waves of Russian airstrikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in just the past week, many of which targeted urban centers with large civilian populations.
Any attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, wherever they occur, are a clear violation of international humanitarian law and must cease immediately
The UN representative also added that civilians living in occupied Ukrainian territories and on the territory of Russia are also dying. At the same time, Russian authorities reported that in the first six months of 2026, 250 civilians were killed and 1,596 were injured on Russian territory. However, according to DiCarlo, the UN was unable to verify these reports.
