The Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" Kakha Kaladze stated that NATO leadership has misled Ukraine and Georgia for years by promising the prospect of joining the Alliance. This is reported by Georgian media, writes UNN.
Details
According to Kaladze, over many years NATO representatives repeatedly stated that the "Alliance's doors are open" for Ukraine and Georgia. At the same time, as the politician claims, NATO officials now effectively admit that there is no prospect of accepting these countries into the organization.
Kaladze believes that current statements indicate a change in the Alliance's position regarding further expansion.
In Georgia, they started talking about a multi-vector policy
Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration Tornike Pagava stated that in the event of NATO's final refusal to further expand, Tbilisi will have to adhere to a multi-vector foreign policy course.
According to him, individual member states of the Alliance, in particular France and Great Britain, are already pointing to the absence of plans for further NATO expansion to the east.
