According to Johnson, congressmen should have 72 hours to familiarize themselves with the text of the bill. If the text is released on Tuesday, it could mean that the House will consider the bills on Friday.
Johnson also said that aid to Ukraine was the most "controversial" item at the Republican Party conference. At the same time, he acknowledged that most of the bill would be used to replenish American munitions, so it would be good for American jobs.
The House Speaker said that Republicans want to vote separately on the foreign aid issue and that he would prefer to send each bill separately to the Senate, but that no final decision has been made on whether to combine them.
