The Main Intelligence Directorate published data on 11 Russian captains and 31 sea vessels involved in schemes to circumvent sanctions on trade in Russian oil, UNN reports.
Among the published data are details about the captains of tankers affiliated with the sanctioned Russian company Sovcomflot, who violate the policy of limiting the maximum price for Russian oil. In particular, this is Ivan Nikiforov, captain of the tanker KOTLAS, and Konstantin Kovalenko, captain of the tanker CORUS.
Details
The captains possess real information about the owners of shadow tankers, the technical condition of vessels, cargo and its value, as well as the vessel's route.
They are the ones who make decisions about disconnecting or manipulating navigation systems of ships, forging data on the location of vessels, entering false data in route logs, dangerous transshipment of oil between vessels at sea, and the use of other schemes to circumvent sanctions
The GUR emphasized that such actions not only contribute to financing the aggressive war against Ukraine, but also create a threat of a global environmental catastrophe.
In the "Sea Vessels" section on the portal War&Sanctions, data on 782 vessels and 100 captains are already available.

Earlier, the GUR stated that the Russian "shadow fleet" transports more than 60% of Russian oil exports by sea. The total sea oil export is estimated at over EUR 80 billion.
