French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that employees of the French embassy in Iran were subjected to intimidation by Iranian security services. This was reported by Bloomberg, writes UNN.
Details
According to the head of the French Foreign Ministry, the actions of the Iranian side constituted a "flagrant violation of diplomatic immunity" enjoyed by diplomatic mission staff.
Barrot reported that embassy employees were detained for several hours without explanation and interrogated, and one of them, he said, was assaulted. After that, the diplomats returned to the embassy; they are currently safe and awaiting their return to France.
Extremely serious acts of intimidation by Iranian security services cannot remain without consequences
As Bloomberg notes, the Iranian authorities have not publicly commented on the French side's statements.
